BROCKVILLE-It's getting to the point that when you think of Danny O Brien, you immediately think of Brockville Ontario Speedway and vise versa. The easy going and likeable Kingston driver claimed his 8th career Modified track championship at the Beast of the East on Saturday night with a third place finish behind Bill Gill in the 358-30 lap event that allowed O Brien to hold of a season long challenge from Kyle Dingwall for the title.

Gill started up front in the event, and dominated from start to finish turning the fastest laps of the night and easily handling a late challenge from Todd Stewart. O Brien worked his way through the field methodically for the third in front of Pierre Dagenais and Adam Moore. Dingwall had to settle for 6th on this night. Afterward, the fans heard a very familiar answer to questions about a track title in victory lane from the Pocket Rocket. "Championships are won in the garage during the week, not at the track," said O Brien with the same conviction he used after the first.

Chris Raabe has been the dominant car all season in the Sportsman division, yet he was still trying to holdoff Randy Gaudet and Cole Dingwall heading into the final night. Raabe made sure no one was going to catch him. He made another patented early run through the field and squeezed by Chris Herbison to claiming his 18th DIRT Sportsman feature of the season overall and his first Brockville track title at age 17. Gaudet ended up third across the line with Adam Turner and Matt Billings close behind. Dingwall was by far the fastest car on the track, however when he got to third spot something broke on the car, Cole nursed it home for a 16th place finish.

Dana Aikins did everything he could to catch Steve Billings in the Street Stock points race on Saturday night. Aikins won the 20 feature but it wasn't enough as Billings held onto the top spot with a four place finish and some great work in the pit area from his crew changing a tire and keeping him on the lead lap.Dominic Gauvreau was second at the checkered followed by Mark Grier, Billings and Guy Reginbald.

Josh Kane had already wrapped up the Rookie track championship just by starting the feature Saturday. Gerry Oszczakiewicz dominated the 16 lap affair. Gabriel Mercier making his first run of the year at Brockville was second in front of Chris Lloyd, Kane and birthday boy Brandon Henderson. Jason Powers led all 12 laps of the Vintage feature.

Brockville Ontario Speedway returns to action, next Saturday night, September 6th with the first ever Brockville 171 for 358 Modifieds. The evening includes the already scheduled 75 lap Super DIRT series event in addition to the final 96 laps of the Canadian Challenge series event rained out back in August along with a regular show for the other divisions.
