Collector Car Auction Sunday October 30, 2016

The Fall Collector car Auction was held Friday through Sunday at the International Centre in Mississauga. Several hundred cars and auto related collectibles were auctioned off, including rare and antique cars. I attended Friday and Sunday (missed Saturday - was at Flamboro). Flamboro Speedway Saturday October 29, 2016



The final race of Flamboro's season was the postponed 2nd day of Frostoberfest, with the Grisdale Triple Crown for Pro Late Models (3 50 lap features) and a Mini Stock invitational. The Pro Late Model overall win was taken by Cayden Lapcevich, who won the first feature and set fast time. Shawn Chenoweth won the other 2 features. Flamboro Speedway Saturday October 22, 2016


Flamboro held a 300 lap enduro, with over 100 cars competing for the $10,000 to win payout. Rodney Rutherford was declared the unofficial winner, but as of this writing, the top 2 finishing positions were still under review - please check Flamboro Speedway for more info and official results . Flamboro Speedway Saturday October 15, 2016


The Frostoberfest 2 day event was shortend to a single day due to rain forcast for Sunday. The Pro Late Model Grisdale Triple Crown was delayed until October 29. Gary McLean won the OSCAAR Modified feature (and the championship) , Steve Ecker and Matt Bentley won the Thunder Car features (Ecker was first overall) , Kevin Bridge and Cory Young won Mini Stock features (Young was first overall) , James Marche won the OSCAAR Pro Midget feature , Owen Elliott won the OSCAAR Midget feature , Dan Nanticoke won the Pro4 Modified feature and Peter Becker won the Pure Stock feature. Peterborough Speedway Friday October 7, 2016


The first day of the 3 day 24th Autumn Colours featured 1st round qualifying for OSCAAR Modifieds, Pro Late Models, Late Models, Thunder Cars, Mini Stocks and 4Fun. There were 2 20 lap features for 'Young Guns' - drivers 21 and younger. The Mini Stock feature was won by Cayden Lapcevich, followed by Myles Tyson, Brandon McFerren, Nick Clarke and Brandt Graham. The Thunder Car feature was son by Lane Zardo, followed by Myles Tyson, Treyton Lapcevich, Jordan Howse and Jade Franklin. Sunset Speedway Sunday September 25, 2016


The second day of the 2 day Velocity Weekend had last chance qualifying for the Late Models, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, and qualifying for the Super Late Models. Feature races saw wins going to Dwayne Baker in the Super Late Models, Gord Shepherd in the Late Models, Matt Bentley in the Super Stocks, Andy Kamrath in the Mini Stocks , John Baker Jr in the Ontario Modifieds and Jody Bound in the Outlaw Midgets . My attempt to cover both Sunset and Flamboro's shows had me leaving Sunset at the start of their intermission, and arriving at Flamboro at the start of their intermission. Chad McGlynn won the 100 lap Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup feature , Shawn Chenoweth and David Elliott won the Pro Late Model features, Brian Atkinson and Jason Keen won the Canadian Vintage Modified features, Shawn Arnott won both Thunder Car features, Russ Aicken and Michael Kenny won the Mini Stock features, Dan Nanticoke won both Pro4 Modified features and Peter Becker won both Pure Stock features. Champions crowned tonight included Shawn Chenoweth in the Pro Late Models, Shawn Arnott in the Thunder Cars, Russ Aicken in the Mini Stocks, Brian Nanticoke in the Pro4 Modifieds, Jason Keen in the Canadian Vintage Modifieds and Lofton Schuts in the Pure Stocks. Sunset Speedway Saturday September 24, 2016


The first day of the 2 day Velocity Weekend had 2 rounds of qualifying for the Late Models, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, and qualifying and features for the Can-Am Midgets, Legends and Pro Challenge. After shooting the Pinty's race at Kawartha, i travelled to Ohsweken for the rain delayed Nationals. 30 out of 65 Sprint cars started the feature. Parker Price-Miller won, with Steve Poirier finishing 2nd (and taking top time during qualifying) and Jessica Friesen 3rd. Kawartha Speedway Sunday September 18, 2016


The rain delayed final NASCAR Pinty's Series Race saw Jason Hathaway win, with Cayden Lapcevich taking the championship as the youngest ever NASCAR champion. Cayden also finished 2nd in the race, followed by Alex Labbe, DJ Kennington, LP Dumoulin, Mark Dilley, Kerry Micks, Alex Tagliani, Gary Klutt and Derek Lynch. Ohsweken Speedway Friday September 16, 2016


The 'Night Before the Nationals' saw almost 60 Sprint Cars in the pits (plus the Crate Sprints). The Aug 5 ESS makeup feature was won by Paul Kinney, followed by Shawn Donath, Dylan Westbrook and Jason Barney. The 2 15 lap Sprint features were won by Jared Horstman and Mark Smith. The McLeod Shootout was won by Steve Poirier, the Kevin Ward Jr Young Stars Challenge was won by Yan Bilodeau, the Crate feature was won by Holley Porter, the Mini Stock feature was won by Rob Hoskins and the Bomber feature was won by Paul Longboat. Flamboro Speedway Monday August 22, 2016


The Outlaw Super Late Model 'Goldrush' featured a 100 lap race, where each driver was offered the opportunity to move from their qualified position to the back, and if they won, a bonus $5000 paycheque (in addition to the winner's $5000). Brandon Watson, who set fast time and sat on the pole, took that challenge, but didn't make it to victory lane. Andrew Gresel was 1st, Glenn Watson 2nd and Shane Maginnis 3rd. Flamboro postponed their APC 100 Lap Pro Late Model race until tomorrow due to some heavy rain. Practice at 12, racing at 3pm. The Empire Super Sprints completed their heats, but were rained out before the feature made it to the track. Heat wins went to Ryan Turner, Dylan Westbrook, Scott Kreutter and Glenn Styres. Collector Car Auction Sunday May 1, 2016

Flamboro Speedway Saturday April 30, 2016


I left the car auction for Flamboro's opening regular night of racing. Thunder Car features were won by Brad Collison and Shawn Arnott, both Mini Stock features were won by Blair Wickett, Brian Nanticoke and Mark Lucas won the Pro4 Modified features and Mark DaSilva and Alex Schutts won the Pure Stock features. Collector Car Auction Saturday April 30, 2016


The Spring edition of the Classic Car Auction was held at the Toronto International Centre in Mississauga. The second of the 3 days included a fundraiser for an injured child - Jamie Armstrong. Former Maple Leaf Todd Warriner was present for the auctioning of 3 Leaf sweaters and a parade float, with about $20,000 raised. Jamie's mother, Deb Pardo also accepted a marriage proposal from Scott Stephens. To donate to Jamie's fund, please contact ccpauctions . Merrittville Speedway Saturday April 23, 2016


After shooting Flamboro, i travelled to Merrittville for their opening night. Jason Barney won the Patriot Sprints feature, followed by Jared Zimbardi and Mitch Brown. Mike Bowman won the Modified feature. Chad Brachmann was 2nd and Pete Bicknell 3rd. Paul Klager won the Mod Lite feature, with Jeffery May 2nd and Derek Wagner 3rd. Motorcycle Spring Show Sunday April 10, 2016


The Motorcycle Spring Show was held at the Toronto International Centre in Mississauga Satuday and Sunday. Today i shot vintage and show bikes, guide dogs provided to Canadians with disabilities by Dog Guides and motorcycle stunt riders (honda mini) . 50th Canadian Vintage Modifieds Reunion, April 2, 2016


The CVM club celebrated it's 50th year, holding a reunion in Dundas, Ontario. Many drivers, crew members and fans were present, with a group shot of 43 drivers. 15 hall of fame members also gathered for a photo, as well as 5 drivers that took part in the first race 50 years ago. For more info, please see Canadian Vintage Modifieds . On a personal note, the first race i ever saw was of this group of racers, in 1964 at the CNE, 2 years before the club formed. Motorama, International Centre, Sunday March 13, 2016



On the final day of the Motorama show i covered a Q&A session with Bobby Allison, Bob Slack and Jr Hanley, the Oval Racers Young Guns racing panel, the APC Late Model Series driver panel, the Bobby Allison press conference (with Norris McDonald), the Meet the Press discussion panel, the NASCAR Pinty's Series driver Q&A and an autograph session with Bobby Allison and the NASCAR drivers. Canadian International Auto Show Friday February 12, 2016


I attended the Indy Driver's press conference on the first day of the Auto Show at the Conference Centre in Toronto. Canadian James Hinchcliffe (4 time winner) and Rookie of the Year contender Conor Daly (Derek Daly's son) were interviewed by Toronto Star editor Norris McDonald, and signed autographs. I also shot photos of the Indy Cars from the Indianapolis Hall Of Fame Museum. Later, I will be shooting other features of the show. For more info, please see Auto Show . Flamboro Speedway Banquet, Saturday January 30, 2016


The annual Flamboro Speedway Banquet was held in Waterdown on Saturday, honouring the track's drivers and supporters. Also, inducted into the Flamboro Speedway Hall of Fame were Jay Hughes, Jack McCutcheon, Alex Nagy Jr, Harry Nicholson, Stan Pokupec and Jason Shaw. For more info, please see Flamboro Speedway .
